Brass & Bagpipes Participation Requirements

The Brass & Bagpipes show that is held in March of each year is a very high-level performance involving many months of practicing and learning advanced choreographies. Participation in this show is an honor and those selected for the show need to meet a certain level of dancing ability, as well as demonstrate commitment to the Rocky Mountain Highland Dancers organization throughout the year.

The following are the criteria that will be required in order to participate in this show beginning in 2009:

• Dancers must show involvement and commitment by participating in a minimum of 5 separate performances at 5 different venues (1 of which may include volunteering at an RMHD sponsored event) throughout the year (Oct 1 - Sept 30).  High point performances such as Bagpipes and Brass, Boulder Revels or any other shows of this type that may come up, do not count in this total.  (The purpose of this is to show support and involvement in RMHD activities throughout the year.)
  
• Dancers must be Premier level. 
  
  
• Dancers must participate in a minimum of 5 performances during the year (Oct 1 – Sept 30). High-point performances such as Brass & Bagpipes; the Boulder Revels or any other shows of this type that may come up, do not count toward this total.
  
  
• Dancers must regularly attend their dance class.
  
  
• Dancers must have strong participation at RMHD sponsored events (competitions, workshops, fundraisers, and/or ceilidh/socials, etc.).
  
  
• Dancers must be members of RMHD in the year prior to the show, as well as in the year of the show.
  
  
• If more dancers than can be accepted meet all of the above criteria, tryouts will be held and judge’s ranking on that day will determine participation.
